April 25th
they let him out today… course, he didn’t want to leave the hospital… he thought he would have to go back to school right away, plus he was being waited on hand and foot in the hospital, lol.
i told him he could turn his brother and sister into slaves… that got him smiling, LOL! they were doing anything he wanted them to do anyway b/c they wanted to play with his new toys. the hospital staff gave him a box of kinex and a little jar of “flarp”, lol!
so he’s home and doing well. he has to take antibiotics for the next 5 days and he was given an Rx for Tylenol with codiene. i haven’t had to give him any regular tylenol let alone tylenol with a kick, so that will probably sit and collect dust. a good thing

i went home and nick and i traded places at the hospital… here they are playing Star Wars Leggos on the Gamecube before I left to meet the bus at home. JD was still a little out of it b/c he was still on morphine. the surgeon wanted him to stay in hospital for 5-7 days for the antibiotics because his appendix was so bad.
April 21st
after complaining of stomach pain and crying every time he tried to move, i ended up at the doctor’s office with JD first thing this morning… who sent us straight to the ER in town after getting his lab work back, saying he had appendicitis. his white count was 23-something and it should’ve only been between 7-10. so we went to the ER, and after a 20-30 minute wait outside, finally got him into a bed.
where we sat for nearly 2 hours waiting, listening to the staff on the other side of the curtain talk about their facebook pages, who was going to be on American Idol that night, and who the cutest intern on the block was. it took an angry outburst from me to get the staff to do anything with him (nick wanted to do it, but he was in uniform
). within 5 minutes, they came in, put an IV in him, popped some suppositories in for the fever, took some blood, and, we were told that because he wasn’t 12 yet, and SV basically doesn’t have a peds dept, he had to be transferred to the hospital in Tucson, so we had to wait for transport to come and get him.
in that time period i could’ve already had him in tucson and halfway to surgery. word to the wise, if you live in sierra vista and need to go the hospital – GO TO BISBEE or make the trek up to Tucson. seriously, the SV ER is the worst place i’ve ever been in. their doctors aren’t real doctors, the nurses are all students from cochise college, and not one of them knows what the hell they are talking about. the head ER lady’s bed-side manner only scared the crap out of JD, and the “doctor” was rather snide, rude and sarcastic (granted, he probably didn’t appreciate my outburst, but i gave a damn… i didn’t appreciate them letting my son sit there in pain)
so i followed the ambulance up there. i was going to ride with or have nick ride with and deal with the cars later (much to nick’s dismay.) i was nervous for JD… until i realized who the driver was… margaret, from blockbuster – sweetest thing in the whole wide world. and her partner, Greg, was just as good a person. so i trusted them both enough to be able to follow.

he was immediately taken care of when we got to TMC. they even given a gamecube to play on while we waited for his turn in surgery. there were 2 newborns ahead of him.
he had his surgery – his appendix was bad… it was perforated, gangrene, and boring a hole into one of his muscles. i’d post lapriscopy photos, but there’s probably some weak stomachs eyeballing the screen right now, so i won’t, lol. the surgery went great, they put him on morphine for the pain & a steady stream of antibiotics, and he was out all night.
